Smart Ultrasonic Range gauge with WiFi and Ethernet (PoE) network interfaces.
Description
This is a Smart Internet-of-Things (IoT) device that uses ultrasonic pulses to measure distance.
It can be used:
- Standalone: The built-in webserver has a WebGUI that can be accessed by any web-browser and shows real-time distance measurements, and/or
- With an IoT Management Platform: Platforms such as HomeAssistant or OpenHab support recording of measurements in a database, plots of past measurements over time, and events (e.g. emails, relay control, ...) based on set trigger points (e.g. water level too low)
This device has two network interfaces:
- Wireless (WiFi): This can operate in either:
- Access Point (AP) Mode: Smart phones/laptops/... can connect and view the WebGUI.
- Station (Client) Mode: This device can connect to a local WiFi network, obtain an IP address (DHCP), and appear on the local network as any other device.
- Wired (LAN): Can be connected to a LAN switch. It will obtain an IP address (DHCP), and appear on the local network as any other device.
Applications
- Distance measurement
- Calculated values: e.g. Tank volume in litres.
Features
Distance measuring | Distance is measured and presented in millimetres (mm).
Real-time measurements can be viewed locally, or from anywhere in the world, accessible by any web browser.
Distances can be measured in any direction to any flat surface that is perpendicular to the sensor axis.
|
---|
Calculation | In many cases, the desired measurement is in some other units: for example litres of liquid in a tank.
This product allows distance to be converted into some other value. Regular & irregular shaped containers are supported.
|
---|
Data logging | When combined with an openHAB/MQTT server, past measurements are accessible locally, or from anywhere in the world, accessible by any web browser.
|
---|
Alarms/Actions | When combined with an openHAB/MQTT server, trigger points can be set for events such as:
|
---|
Low voltage DC power supply | This device is powered by 24 DC. (Power supply not included). No electrician required for installation.
|
---|
Power Options
This product is powered by 48 VDC PoE (Power over Ethernet). A PoE power supply is included.
Suitable Power Supplies
- AC Power source:
- DC (unregulated) source:
- Solar source:
Mounting
Mounting is simple:
- Drill a 24 mm hole in a mounting plate (e.g. water tank lid)
- Remove feedhorn
- Insert sensor body into hole
- Screw on feedhorn
