Ubiquiti WiFi Extender/Repeater

This product, based on Ubiquiti hardware, can extend any standard 2.4 GHz WiFi network. Great for dead spots around the house or office where the existing WiFi network has a weak signal in areas. Each Ubiquiti WiFi Extender/Repeater only needs power (included). Multiple units can be deployed.

Description

This product as two WiFi interfaces that operate simultaneously:

  • a WiFi Client: To connect to your main WiFi Access Point (AP), and
  • a WiFi Access Point (AP): To re-broadcast a new WiFi signal for increased range.

Unlike normal Ubiquiti UniFi-WiFi products, this product can extend the WiFi range of non-Ubiquiti products. That is: The main AP can be any brand, including the WiFi router provided by your ISP (e.g. NBN, iinet, Optus, Telstra, ...).

Features

  • Ubiquiti hardware: This product is based on the Ubiquiti UAP.
  • Powerful open-source firmware: We pre-install, and then configure OpenWrt. This firmware is the basis on which Ubiquiti built is own airOS firmware so it is not surprising it works with Ubiquiti hardware. It has a long and robust pedigree. It is reliable and very powerful.
  • Graphical User Interface (GUI): You have full control of the product. While we ship it pre-configured as a WiFi Extender/Repeater, you can change/update any of the configuration parameters.
  • PoE powered: Because it is 24 V PoE powered, installation away from a power point is easy.
  • Ethernet port included: The ethernet port does not have to be used, but is available. Handy if your TV/device does not have WiFi.
  • Fast: For example, a High Definition (HD) Netflix video stream needs about 5 Mbps. This device can manage 20+ Mbps throughput so supports 4 simultaneous Netflix movies.
  • Network model: The as shipped configuration is below. These can be changed by the user:
    • WiFi Client: You configure with your WiFi SSID/Password. It then connects to your local WiFi network, much like a laptop would.
    • WiFi AP: This WiFi AP broadcasts a new AP signal. It can have any SSID (WiFi name), including the same as used by the local WiFi.
    • Ethernet port: [Optional] This can be used to connect a wired device (e.g. PC, Netflix box, ...) to the WiFi network.
    • Bridge. All 3 interfaces above bridged together so that they are all on the same IP network.

On January 10th they had an armed robbery during the day and the guy didn't try hard to disguise his face. (It's obscured for legal reasons)."

Hint: Fee Free, Fast EFT payments received in 60 minutes

Paying for your order by EFT has been a zero-fee, but slower, option. It is always a mystery why the Big 4 Australian banks sit on the transaction overnight and only notify us of the payment on the Next Business day. We can only assume they enjoy making interest on your money overnight.

We have fixed that. We now offer no-fee, Fast-EFT. In most cases, we are notified of your payment in less than 60 minutes; we have seen notification times of just 7 minutes! This means that in most cases we ship your order 1 business day earlier.

To take advantage of:

  • Same business day EFT payments, with
  • No fees, and
  • Faster order dispatch ...

... please update your payment systems as follows:

  1. Use our NEW bank details as shown on your Tax Invoice. See example below.
  2. Always use the order number as the payment reference. We use an automated system to match incoming payments to outstanding orders. If the UBWH order number is not included, order dispatch can be delayed.

Online Training

The UniFi Course has been upgraded and is now based on Version 5 of the Controller and runs on a CloudKey.

UniFi Training1

UniFi Training2

In a world's first, Online training (developed in Australia) is now available for the Ubiquiti products shown.

You benefit  in a number of ways:

  • Cheaper - than attending a formal 2-day course in a classroom environment.
  • Faster - no need to wait until the next classroom course is scheduled nearby.
  • More convenient - the self-paced courses can be scheduled around other demanding work.
  • More practical - the Ubiquiti classroom courses are great for students needing to delve deep into theory such as Radio Waves, Antenna design, TDMA protocols, Link-Budgets, UniFi-WiFi site surveys, etc. But in many cases, students just want to know how to setup some very common scenarios. These Installer courses are targeted with less theory and more practice.

The way each course works is ... each student:

  • signs up and receives by email a set of detailed course notes. These can be kept as a reference document for use later on-the-job.
  • is allocated real test hardware for 7 days. This is hardware the student gets to configure (over the Internet).
  • passes an online quiz for each module. When all module quizzes have been passed, the student gets emailed a Certificate of Completion.
