24-48V Solar UPS PoE Switch
This switch is ideal for solar installations or where battery backup is required. It has Five (5) 802.3af/at PoE Ports with one (1) SFP Port.
You connect:
- [optional] Solar panel (not included)
- [optional] 12 V or 24 V Battery (not included. Lead-Acid or Lithium (Li-ion or LiPo))
- [optional] DC Power supply (not included)
- A mix of 24 and 48 V POE devices.
The battery is charged if one or both of the Solar or DC inputs is/are active.

900 MHz is much better at passing through obstacles than 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. This 900 MHz product will pass through some obstacles, but each obstacle is likely to reduce the data throughput. It cannot work miracles; it is unlikely to make a link through a hill, and metal is a 100% reflector at this frequency so it will not pass through metal.
900 MHz works best when one or both antennas are well above the ground.

Hint: Using Ubiquiti 5AC products for Public Safety Bodies in Australia
Public Safety Bodies in Australia are permitted to use 4.9 GHz frequencies. This is covered in legislation by the Radiocommunications (Public Safety and Emergency Response) Class Licence 2013.
Ubiquiti products that can operate in this band include:
The legislation defines a Public Safety Body as:
- the Australian Federal Police or the police force of a State or Territory;
- any Commonwealth, State or Territory body that is not covered by paragraph (a) and that performs functions relating to the investigation or prevention of terrorism, serious crime or corruption;
- any Commonwealth, State, Territory or other body that provides an ambulance, fire-fighting, search or rescue service; or
- the Defence Force.

Online Training
The UniFi Course has been upgraded and is now based on Version 5 of the Controller and runs on a CloudKey.
In a world's first, Online training (developed in Australia) is now available for the Ubiquiti products shown.
You benefit in a number of ways:
- Cheaper - than attending a formal 2-day course in a classroom environment.
- Faster - no need to wait until the next classroom course is scheduled nearby.
- More convenient - the self-paced courses can be scheduled around other demanding work.
- More practical - the Ubiquiti classroom courses are great for students needing to delve deep into theory such as Radio Waves, Antenna design, TDMA protocols, Link-Budgets, UniFi-WiFi site surveys, etc. But in many cases, students just want to know how to setup some very common scenarios. These Installer courses are targeted with less theory and more practice.
The way each course works is ... each student:
- signs up and receives by email a set of detailed course notes. These can be kept as a reference document for use later on-the-job.
- is allocated real test hardware for 7 days. This is hardware the student gets to configure (over the Internet).
- passes an online quiz for each module. When all module quizzes have been passed, the student gets emailed a Certificate of Completion.
